Members RoyalOrleans Posted June 5, 2008 Members Posted June 5, 2008 With the price of pork right now you can practically get a hog for free if you want to butcher it yourself.A local pork producer just killed off hundreds of young pigs about a week ago because it was cheaper than raising them to market size. They would lose money on the feed and care compared to what they would go for at market. Well... I want a pound of young swine bacon. I bet it's tender as all get out. It's a total fraud. Most welfare go to the rich of this country: the military-industrial complex, the bankers, the foreign dictators, it's totally out of control. emkay64 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I tried beef bacon last summer. It was yummy. Extremely lean and a little less salty. Quote
Old Salt Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Turkey bacon isn't bad, either. Quote Been wrong before, could be wrong now, will probably be wrong again. Don't take yourself so dang seriously. ;)
emkay64 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I know turkey bacon is healthier, I just don't think it is good as bacon. Of course I hate sushi and would rather eat steak. I know I'm a girl, but I can't eat like a bird. I'm a pig :D Quote
Members RoyalOrleans Posted June 5, 2008 Members Posted June 5, 2008 The USDA defines bacon as "the cured belly of a swine carcass"; other cuts and characteristics must be separately qualified (e.g., "smoked pork loin bacon"). "USDA Certified" bacon means that it has been treated for trichinella. The word is derived from the Old High German bacho, meaning "back", "ham", or "bacon". emkay64 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I've tried to like sushi. It just tastes like weeds and rice to me. I just can't get into it. I tried vegetarianism....and after a month realized I need blood and fat. :D Quote

And called myself "Queer" three times.
