Its a part of Lever Park, near Bolton -North West England. Bolton of course is a strange place to expect to find Liverpool Castle ! It was built by Lord Lever, a hundred years or more ago. Its two thirds the original size, and is an exact replica I think. Lever Park is a large public park with several follies. To view it you need to down load "Google Earth". I like to visit places rich in history. Charleston, St. Augustine, Savannah, and other historic towns are among my favorite. I also enjoy visiting places that are said to be haunted. With you interest in history and haunted places, I would say before a trip to the UK, google for "the national trust" . This group own many medieval properties and preserve them for the nation. The public can visit all year round. Some of the properties are haunted. Hampton Court in London is a haunted place to visit. The Tower of London too I think. Many people were beheaded there. One of Henry V111's wives was, I think it was Anne Boleyn You might also wish to visit Warwick Castle- one of the best examples of a Norman Fort in the UK. If you like ancient history why not visit Avebury- its attraction is the many stone circles there, some of which dwarf Stonehenge.It was built by Neolithic people about 5500 years ago they think. http://www.avebury-web.co.uk/ Beautiful areas include the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, the Yorkshire Dales, Cornwall and Devon, and the beautiful Cotswolds, with its picture postcard towns like Chipping Campden, with its medieval market in the middle of the high street. It's a bitch of a climb to get up there, but SO worth the effort. I go there a couple of times a year (at least)....just to relax and recharge. You can't get near the stones these days, in fact the best view is to be had driving up to it. Don't waste your money paying to walk in a huge circle around it.....just drive past it, you'll see more that way! Thanks for that Feckless, I knew of Glastonbury but not the Tor. Have you had a look at Google Earth ? It is fantastic. You can spy on the earth via a satellite in space. Maybe it is because I have moved around so much, or that I just don't ever have time to recharge, or maybe it is growing up near the city where there is no such thing as a 'beautiful quite place'. Have you had a look at Google Earth ? It is fantastic. You can spy on the earth via a satellite in space. You can almost read newspaper headlines with it. I found it about a year or a year and a half ago. It is fantastically addictive. I love looking at real estate and I always look it up on Google earth to see where the property is located and what is around it. Honestly, if a ****ing leprechaun gave me a choice between touring all the wonders of the world in first class style, or sitting on the muddy banks of the White river and smoking out of my never ending magical baggy of skunks, Ima take the river.
