Phreakwars Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was scoping out godaddy for more domain names that I can own and wow, out of the blue, I thought of www.mychatforum.com and I'd be damned it was available... Thinking of selling it on eBay. For now though, it points to this other place. So anyways, the SPAM site isn't really to promote it, but to ask for a guesstimated appraisal value of that domain name. Place your (non legally binding) bids here... What would ya give me for this fine domain name? . . Quote NewSucks500.com The return of the Suckage

RaE Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 hmm... less than $4000 Quote "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to ensure peace, security, and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." - George Washington
eddo Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 guess it depends on if anyone wants it... Quote I hate signatures, so I don't have one. wait....
snafu Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Well how much money can you make on a chat fourm per year (estimating that is)? Quote *NEVER FORGOTTEN*
Phreakwars Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 Make money? It isn't about making money. How do I put this another way... ... web domain names are a prime real estate if you come up with a decent sounding name. Not because of the money they could make, but because of how easy they are to remember, and how easy they are to get to. It would be silly to think you could ever get the domain name like forum.com, or chat.com, or rootbeer.com because these are prime names. Meaning, it's a name alot of people would want to use for their own site. The "TRICK" if you really want to call it that, in selling domain names, is coming up with names that people would find useful, and selling to the highest bidder. mychatforum.com is a good example of an easy URL to remember. How much I could get for it depends on how badly someone wants that domain name. . . Quote NewSucks500.com The return of the Suckage

Administrators Cloaked Posted September 13, 2007 Administrators Posted September 13, 2007 I bought a domain in 1995 just before the dotcom boom. I renewed it yearly and never used it. The domain was porn related. I sold it in 2000 for a hefty sum of money. I had a 3 letter domain I bought about the same time. The 3 letters would later become regularly used online abbreviation by AOL users. No it wasn't LOL. Domain speculation can pay off big. I have a few domains parked on one of my servers waiting for the right time. The only hard thing about speculating on domains is knowing when to sell. Quote
