emkay64 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I like it when sports greats have the grace to leave on a high note. It's sad when everyone says how bad they are getting and fade doing a lousy job. Quote

snafu Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 It's hard to retire. And I feel for him but he did retire. Green Bay spent time and money on him and then on a new quarterback. He made the decision. Quote *NEVER FORGOTTEN*

I agree, and because of his decision, I think he needs to suck it up. Either stay retired, or be willing to accept what the Packers have in store for him. snafu Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I agree, and because of his decision, I think he needs to suck it up. Either stay retired, or be willing to accept what the Packers have in store for him. Given the circumstances I think he should sit on the bench. Something happens and he gets thrown in, makes the play of the century and comes out a hero. But suck it up Brett. Quote *NEVER FORGOTTEN*

Something happens and he gets thrown in, makes the play of the century and comes out a hero. But suck it up Brett. They wont pay him 13 mil to sit on the bench... He'll either start, be released, or traded... And he'll have a lot of say where he'd be traded to. Quote I'm sick in mind and spirit, the mirror tells me lies ~ Ozzy
eddo Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Why would they pay him 13 mil? Did his contract have a "changed my mind" clause in it? I don't foresee him starting and I don't foresee him being released (cause then the Vikings could get him.) Personally, I'd pay him the minimum and make him earn the starting spot- which he very well could do. of course, I would do that for every NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, etc, etc, etc player. Pay the minimum and have a crap load of performance based bonuses. Quote I hate signatures, so I don't have one. wait....

wez Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Oh yeah Ziggy... show him the money.. FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Report: Packers to trade Favre to division rival? It is widely believed Favre would be willing to play for the Vikings. In filing tampering charges with the NFL against the Vikings two weeks ago, Packers officials expressed a belief that Vikings coaches had inappropriate contact with Favre — and interest from the Vikings was the main reason behind Favre's last-minute desire to return. I still think he's more likely to go to Tampa Bay. I think Gruden will actively pursue him. I hope they pay the man and don't make the same mistake they did when they let Jerome Bettis go to the Steelers. Moderators IWS Posted August 1, 2008 Moderators Posted August 1, 2008 Yeah.. but you got Faulk.. Not until 1999. When they traded Bettis it was for two second round draft picks in 1997 draft. They thought they could do without him because they drafted Lawrence Phillips. That worked out great. When Phillips went down we had to suffer through Amp Lee and some help from Craig Hayward at fullback. It was a stupid trade. He did pretty good in his role with the vikes. Never a starting RB... But the year before, Bettis was horrible. Like 7 carries for - 3 yards horrible week after week it seemed. wez Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 That was an O-line issue the Rams had going on. I think it was mostly the direction the team was going.. That quick passing, west coast offense. Bettis didn't fit that mold. It worked out well for both teams over the years when all the smoke cleared. Quote I'm sick in mind and spirit, the mirror tells me lies ~ Ozzy
